Alexandra's Saturday night Hoedown (7 June) a major event

Media Information

All the details are now locked in for the major Country Music Hoedown which will be held at the Alexandra Racecourse on Saturday evening 7 June.

The event will precede the Alexandra Truck, Ute & Rod Show on the following day and is expected to attract a large audience from the visitors in town for the Truck Show as well as local and district people.

"The feedback we receive from visitors to Alexandra each year indicated that there is strong demand for an entertainment event on the Saturday evening.

"In selecting the venue and time we have also elected to work closely with the Alexandra Speedway which will be running on the Saturday evening and visitors to the Hoedown will be able to cross over to the Speedway once the music is over at about 9pm with no further admittance charge? Truck Show committeeman Andrew Embling says.

The Hoedown will commence at 4.30 pm with some star performers confirmed.

The bill will include Crackajack the award winning country rock band from Melbourne who have built up a strong following.

Also on the bill will be Jayne Denham from Sydney an up and coming music performer with her first two recordings rating up near the top of the charts.

Jayne has also toured extensively in Australia and New Zealand and has been a headline performer at Australia?s biggest country music festivals including Tamworth, Gympie, Bunyip and many others.

Sharon Benjamin who is also coming from interstate, in this case Leeton NSW, is another emerging country music talent with numerous credits, while the dynamic country and traditional rock band Rustik with Kathryn Seckold from Albury will also fill the card.

With the Hoedown commencing at 4.30 pm the Alexandra Racecourse facilities will provide an excellent venue with a selection of food and drinks on offer at bar prices.

Well stocked fire urns will be provided for the night while the facilities will offer plenty of cover, comfort and parking.

In addition a complimentary bus service will be provided at the conclusion to both Grant Street and Thornton for the convenience of both visitors and locals.

Admission will be available at the gate while charges will be $20 for adults, $5 for children or a family ticket is on offer at $45.

The groups and performers will also provide the music and entertainment from the stage in Grant Street on Sunday of the Truck Show up until the major Show Auction which will begin about 3 pm.

In addition overnight camping facilities with firewood provided will be available adjoining the Speedway grounds to assist the large number of visitors who come to Alexandra over the weekend.

Accommodation will also be available via the two local Caravan Parks, hotels, motels and B & Bs although early reservations are advised.

The Alexandra Truck, Ute & Rod Show web site at www.alexandratruckshow is regularly updated with new information.

"The Executive Committee has scheduled a great diversity of exhibits and events to appeal to all family members and after our record attendance in 2007 we are looking forward to another big event over the June Labour Day long weekend? Andrew Embling added.
